Herbs and spices, the secret ingredients which work wonders in your favorite recipes can have the same effect on your skin too. Many of the spices contain high levels of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and nutrients which can make your skin healthy.
Below is a list of herbs and spices which can do wonders for your skin.
Paprika
Paprika has vitamins C, K, E, A, iron, carotenoids and also has medicinal properties. When used on the skin it gives you a supple and plump look.
Mask
Combine 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of paprika. Apply it on your face and neck. Leave it on for 25 minutes and wash your face.
What does this mask do?
It evens out the complexion, reduces wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, treats blemishes and blackheads too.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon is used in many Ayurvedic medicines and also by the Chinese to treat flu and indigestion. The spice contains calcium, fiber, iron, and manganese. Also, its essential oil can be used to cure arthritis and general body pain.
Mask
Take 1 small banana, 2 tablespoons of yogurt, ½ tsp of ground cinnamon and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice. Mash the banana in a bowl and mix in the other ingredients. Leave this mixture on your face and neck until it dries completely and then wash off.
What does this mask do?
It improves your skin quality and complexion.
Red Clover
Red clover is an excellent source of nutrients such as calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. It is considered to be the best medicine to alleviate various skin infections such as eczema, psoriasis, blisters, wounds, and itching rashes. Mask
Take 2 red clover tea bags, baking soda and honey. Mix the dry tea with equal parts of baking soda and add the honey to it. Apply this on your face and neck and leave it for 15 minutes. Wipe off the mask with a damp washcloth.

Witch Hazel
Witch hazel contains high levels of active ingredients that reduce inflammation, cellular damage and swelling. They help to remove excess oil from the skin which is why it’s used in many skin care products that treat acne. Adding this to your diet will contribute to reducing stress.
Mask
Take 1 tablespoon of witch hazel, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply it on your face and neck for 20 minutes and wash off.
What does this mask do?
This is an excellent treatment for acne and oily skin and doesn’t alter your pH balance.
Chamomile
Chamomile has antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. When you apply this on the skin, it has the ability to neutralize skin irritants and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This herb can ease heartburn, nausea, vomiting and colic in infants.
Mask
Mix 1/8 cup of chamomile tea leaves, 1 tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera and 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil. Rub it on your skin in circular motions and leave it for 20 minutes, then rinse.
What does this mask do?
It reduces breakouts and clears your skin.
Fennel seeds
Fennel seeds have great health benefits and are one of the biggest sources of antioxidants. The seeds control unwanted free radicals in the body and also help prevent many diseases. Some of the antioxidants present in it are kaempferol and quercetin which slow the aging process.
Mask
Add 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds into boiling water and leave aside for 30 minutes. Take 2 tablespoons of ground oats and add one tablespoon of honey to it. Then add the fennel seed water to the mixture. Apply it on your face for 25 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
What does this mask do?
Helps to reduce wrinkles, fine lines and clears out acne.
Your skin needs to be nurtured on a regular basis for its continued health.
