Are you a smoothie drinker? Do you like protein bars for quick meals on the go? Tiffany of Don’t Waste the Crumbs has a great new e-book out with recipes for high protein smoothies and power bars that use no soy powders (or any other kinds of powders). The recipes are easy to make and very nourishing for your body and enjoyable to eat or drink.
Tiffani has some wonderful recipes in there like apple pie smoothie, mango tango, and raspberry lemonade. Most of her smoothies have protein in the form of chia seeds, hemp hearts, cottage cheese, or beans. One thing I really appreciate is that she has a whole section before her recipes where she explains the rationale for each ingredient and its value. She also gives the basic formula for making a smoothie so really you don’t need anything beyond that. You can get the idea from a few of her recipes and then you are good to go, coming up with creative smoothies of your own.
Her power bars include recipes like almond coconut, berry almond crunch, and coconut bar. Coconut bar was one that I tried and really liked. The sweetener was with the dates and the chocolate chips. The dates and coconut oil is what holds it together. I did not have a great success in holding the bar together but it sure tasted good. I did email Tiffany to ask a few questions and she kindly instructed me that more dates may be needed if the bar does not hold together. She again has some excellent instructions in the beginning of this section with how to’s on making protein bars and the basic bar formula. I personally love cookbooks that give me the formula so I can move on and figure out my own variations.
The PDF version of “High Protein, No Powder” is currently on sale for only $8. Seriously, this is a killer deal.
- equivalent to the cost of ONE smoothie from your local vendor (although the ones from the book have NO added sugars)
- equivalent to the cost of THREE protein bars (although the homemade versions will actually HELP your body instead of hurt it)
“The Whole Pie” is currently only $13 and is also a killer deal.
- Like paying sale price for the PDF and Kindle files, and getting a second eBook, three printables and AT LEAST 12 new recipes auto-delivered for free.
- The PDF is super user-friendly. The table of contents is clickable (meaning they can touch or click to be taken to the page). Every major section within the book is also clickable and there are multiple references throughout the book that are also clickable (so the reader can go back and forth in the book to read more without having to always go back to the table of contents).
- The printables are designed to fit on one piece of paper each, so although they will need to use ink to print them, resources are minimal (and can be done in black and white).
- The 20-page supplemental eBook is a complete recipe book for making EVERY ingredient in the book from scratch, if it’s possible. Obviously chia seeds and almonds aren’t included, but every milk, fermented dairy, dehydrating fruit is included, even freezing fruits and making beans from scratch! Super handy for those who like to use their reading devices in the kitchen (and they won’t need wireless access either!).
- There’s a lot of “why” behind the “how” in the book. So readers aren’t just told what to do, they’re given the explanation why. This tends to resonate with readers because knowing why often leads to long term changes, rather than short term “dieting fads.”
- The recipes are kid-friendly and allergy-friendly! Honestly, the only issue I’ve come across is the use of dates with candida, but I’ve even worked out a few options to get around that issue with some readers. Really truly, this book is for everyone!!
For my readers Tiffani has offered us a great coupon. For the next week if you buy her book or “the whole pie” and use the coupon code 30OFFPROTEIN you will get 30% off either one of these (or both if you want to buy one for a friend). That will bring your copy down to about $6 or $10. You can’t beat that. But hurry, the coupon is only good for 1 week. (Expires 1/21/14)
