A few weeks ago I received a lovely box of snack cookies and bars from Chris Feuille of WB Kitchen in Colorado. He and his wife make some rather amazing grain free snacks after their own experiences of being grain free, including some time on the GAPS diet. (See Chris’ story here which he kindly shared with me.)
I received a sample of everything WB Kitchen makes. That includes coconut shortbread, brownies, maple pecan honey cookies, cinnamon raisin honey cookies and peanut butter cookies. There were also 3 bars – honey nut, chocolate chip honey nut, and peanut ginger spice.
Of course my whole family tried them, especially since I have 3 gluten free family members. They were a hit; all of us enjoyed them, every single bar and cookie. My daughter, who has been grain free through the GAPS diet (but no longer), loved them. She told me her favorite cookie was the cinnamon raisin, but she loved all of them and wants to take some on her next backpacking trip. My husband also really liked them. His comment was that they are a chewy cookie, not a crispy one. If you are in the crispy cookie camp then you might be disappointed. The cookies are similar to one another; you will not find the great differences of a Girl Scout Cookie line up.
But these cookies are actually good for you. They are gluten free, grain free, dairy free, preservative free, and no refined sugar. And they are made of nuts, coconut oil, and honey. Pretty simple really. Guilt free snacks!! Not always easy to find.
The bars were also well liked. My husband’s comment on those was that he preferred them to the popular Larabar. I found them to be similar in texture and taste to the other brand as well. My favorite was the chocolate chocolate chip honey nut bar. It was chocolatey enough to satisfy me and my insatiable desire for chocolate, but not overwhelming in that taste either.
A few more facts of interest from WB Kitchen:
- The honey is from the US and is raw and unfiltered.
- All the products are GAPS and SCD friendly except the Maple Pecan cookies.
- All of the products are certified gluten free through GIG.
- The facility is also certified gluten free.
- Shelf life is 9 months on the bars and 6 months on the cookies
Chris has kindly offered to get 2 of my readers a box of one of each of his products. The giveaway begins Friday January 30th and ends Monday February 9th.

I’ve been making Injera bread and it reminds me of some amazing Ethiopian meals I’ve had.

I get the Entwife’s Journal and saw her posting about the giveaway for the grain free goodies! Once I saw grain free I was determined to check this out. I have Celiac disease and multiple allergies, so my foods are very limited. Anytime any new food comes out I have to see if I can add that new food item to my list of foods that I can eat, and I can have these grain free snack!! Happy dance here 🙂 Would love to win!

If you don’t win I encourage you to see if there are any stores around here that sell these or order some online. They are really very tasty and yes it is wonderful to find snacks to eat when foods choices are so limited.
